My path to real estate began unexpectedly after a car accident in 1984. As an over-the-road truck driver, I faced significant injuries that made it impossible to return to my previous job. During that challenging time, I sold our house with the help of a friend who had just started in real estate. Inspired by his encouragement and the realization that I needed a new direction, I joined him in the business, marking the start of my real estate career in 1986.
Over the past 38 years, we’ve grown from a solo endeavor to a thriving family business, deeply rooted in the values and community spirit that I carried from the very beginning. My children all grew up around the industry leading to Gina, Jeremy and Jason joining me in real estate. Gina joined me in 1998 right out of high school, marking the start of our team. She has a natural ability to connect with clients and create lasting relationships. Jeremy came on board in 2008 after a severe car accident, facing the same difficult situation I was in; he saw real estate as a new beginning. Jason joined in 2018, seeking a more fulfilling career path than bill collections, and was inspired by the success and values he saw in our family business.
Each of them started in administrative roles, earning their way and working up to becoming agents. Our joint efforts led to this team’s success. Together, we have sold over 4,000 properties, a testament to our dedication, hard work and passion for serving the New Richmond area and surrounding communities! In serving these small towns, being client-focused and community-oriented is crucial. We believe in working as a team, not just within our family, but also with our clients and the community.
While at a Howard Brinton seminar, he said, "If you give and help people, the checks will come." This philosophy has guided our family's approach to both business and community involvement, trusting that doing the right thing will always bring good outcomes.
We all have different ways of giving back. Jeremy participates in many charity golf tournaments including Big Brothers Big Sisters. Gina is active in the Chamber of Commerce and leads our local Habitat for Humanity chapter, which has grown significantly and is on the board of our local community food shelves. Jason is involved in supporting his son's wrestling team. We also sponsor local sports teams, race cars, horse barrel racing, and the sports teams of my grandkids. Whether we’re at a restaurant, a sports event or even just walking through the credit union office, we see every interaction as an opportunity to build relationships and help others. This approach has brought us many loyal clients and families, some of whom we’ve had the pleasure of working with for multiple generations.
Our family values are not just words; they are actions seen in our daily lives. We work together as a cohesive unit, always ready to support each other. This teamwork is essential, especially through the ever-changing nature of the market. Our team feeds four families, so it’s not just a business; it’s our livelihood.
